Hace mucho tiempo vivía un brujo cerca de un poblado mapuche, junto al cráter de un volcán. Las personas y animales le temían y para que estuviera contento le dejaban a la salida de sus rucas cántaros llenos de una chicha de trigo llamada mudai. En una ocasión, el brujo no encontró la cantidad suficiente de mudai y se enojó con los habitantes del pueblo. Los indígenas y los animales se reunieron para hacer algo con este brujo tan malo.
