Esta obra compuesta de cinco volúmenes, revisa el periodo de la independencia de México. Para escribirla, su autor recurrió a fuentes directas: a los testimonios de personas fidedignas y de buena crítica que presenciaron los sucesos, así como a documentos oficiales de la época.
