La introducción al latín vulgar es el manual clásico con el que se han formado varias generaciones de filólogos europeos en una materia tan apasionante como el latín vulgar. El profesor finlandés Veikko Vaananen publicó en francés la que entonces era ya una nueva edición revisada y completada de una antología con comentarios en 1967, cuya segunda edición apareció en 1981.
