Not everyone in the United States is eligible to vote. Voting rules are different in every state. For federal elections, however, voters must have U.S. citizenship to vote. Voters must be 18 on or before the next Election Day to cast their ballot. People must live in their state for a certain period of time before being eligible to vote. All people wishing to vote must be registered by a certain date depending on which state they live in.
