Diseñarte. Crecer, crear, hacer diseño

The shopping mall is one of the typologies most succesfully developed in the twentieth century. The work of the Mexican architural firm Grupo Arquitech has ventured into this fertile territory. Directed by Juan José Sánchez since 1987. In the space of a few years, Arquitech has designed the main malls in Mexico, perfecting a model that accurately define the limit. This is the first major documentation of their work.

Including a selection of scale models, sketches, computer models, photos, and prototypes of Guallart's most outstanding projects, such as the ports of Fugee and Keelung in Taiwan, the Artificial Mountain in Wroclaw, and the Sharing Tower in Sociopolis, this exhibition catalog provides a wide ranging survey of this talented architect. Betsky's essay labels Guallart's output as an emergent architecture, as he attempts to help architecture to emerge out of its surrounding conditions.
