La presente obra estudia la vocación misionera jesuítica en el contexto americano hacia el inicio del siglo XVII. Se centra en el desarrollo de la misión de Chiloé que, fundada en 1608, se mantuvo hasta el año 1768, fecha en que el último jesuita fue expulsado del archipiélago.
